Mark Your Calendars!

As 2017 comes to a close, it's not too early to put some great Checker events on your calendar. As of this writing, we are aware of the following:

- April 13-15: Southwest Checker Cab Cruise In, Prescott AZ

- June 10: Floyd Bennett Field Car Show, Brooklyn NY

- June 26-30: Checker Car Club Annual Convention, Elkhart IN

- August 4: Shoreline Trolley Museum Checker Show, East Haven CT

- August 5: Das Awkscht Fescht, Macungie PA

- August 24-26: Put-In-Bay Checker Get Together, Put-In-Bay OH

- October 20: Extinct Car Day - Larz Anderson Car Museum, Brookline MA

- October 28: 5th Annual Fall New York Checker Meet, Brooklyn NY

For now, please put these on your calendar. We will start to provide more information on each of these events in January.

On the Indiana Heritage Trail

Our own Checker Car Club convention is going to be exciting, fun and unusual. While Elkhart will be our base, the plan is to do a rolling convention along the Indiana Heritage Trail. You can find the details on our web site, Checker World. Note that the convention will run from Wednesday to Saturday rather than our usual Thursday to Sunday.

We are also pretty excited about the Southwest Checker Cab Cruise-In that is being planned by Walt Lynn and sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans in Prescott, Arizona. This will be a great way for Checker Fans from Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico (and maybe even Texas) to get

together. And it's for a great cause to support our veterans.

August may turn into a busy month with three different events in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Ohio. If you look at the world map on our web site, Checker World, it's obvious that Checker owners and fans are everywhere in the USA. So, 2018 will give you a great chance to get together with other Checker fans and

not have to travel too far to do it.

On that note, you can see that the Connecticut and Pennsylvania shows are on the same weekend. The two venues are roughly 235 miles apart. So, it you are adventurous, it’s possible to attend the Trolley Museum meet on Saturday and the Awkscht Fescht on Sunday. It’s roughly a 4 hour drive.

Then, at the end of the vintage car driving season, those in the north-east corner of the country can get together before it's time to put their Checkers into hibernation.

Given that the number of Checker events is expanding, I wanted you to know that the Checker Car Club will promote any event where Checker cars, owners and fans are invited and welcome. This is in keeping with our mission to preserve and promote the legacy of Checker Motors and the great cars that they made. We will use our Checker World web site, Facebook group, Checkerboard News newsletter to keep you and the general public informed. We will also use print, media and web outlets to spread the word.

So, if you know of other car shows/events that we should promote, please let us know. Just write us via our Checker World Contact page.

In the meantime, put these events on your calendar! We hope to see you at one or more of them.

Gary
