2011 Springfield

The 2011 National Convention was held Thursday, June 16 through Sunday morning, June 19 in Springfield, IL at the Travelodge Inn.

Sixty three people were in attendance and at least 20 Checkers were on display including a Winkoff, a Surge and a few Perkins 6 cylinder cars.

Attendees came from all over including Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

A caravan of Checkers took in Route 66 on Thursday and stopped at Shea's Gas Station, the Cozy Dog Drive-In and the Chatham Railroad Museum. The highlight of the evening was a visit with the Checkers to the local Drive-In movie theater.

Friday gave us the opportunity to visit Abraham Lincoln's home, the Lincoln Museum and Presidential Library. A rainy Saturday morning cleared up by early afternoon and allowed us to show off our cars to the general public and go for a ride with the Route 66 Cruisers Car Club.
